Planetarium Sultan Iskandar, the brainchild of Sarawak's Chief Minister was declared officially opened in 19 January 1989 and it is the first planetarium in Malaysia. Just like any other planetaria in the world, the planetarium offers combination of audio, graphic, video and awry experience in space. What more could be that important compare to the willingness to share the experience in space? It houses the Carl Zeiss M1015 projector capable to simulate the night sky with combinations of projectors that would simply make you say "wow!. The results of the "wow" feature are the combinations of those that slingshot your imagination into space, to the far edge of the Solar system.... and beyond. Since June 2007, it houses the MirrorDome(tm) , the invention of a visual research fellow from Swinburne University of Technology, Paul Bourke(now in University of Western Australia). The aim of the of the inventor is simple, to provide the look and feel of having a planetarium digital show at a very affordable price. While digital fulldome show is the current stream of planetarium show, Planetarium Sultan Iskandar have decided to have both of these classical optomechanical technology and digital MirrorDome to serve the public together.
Starting from July orwards, we will have the two digital shows from Spitz open to the public - Oasis of Space and Darkstar Adventure. For booking time slot, contact our personnel.
